Educational scholarships amounting to Rs 2.7 million have been distributed among the 91 talented students belonging to the minority community of Faisalabad division.
The cheques were given away by Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs & Human Rights Ejaz Aalam Augustin during a ceremony held at Municipal Corporation hall. Divisional Commissioner Mehmood Javed Bhatti, MPA Shakil Shahid, Additional Commissioner Mehboob Ahmad, CO MCF Sardar Naseer Ahmad, President West Punjab Region PTI Habqoob Gill, Pastor Emric Joseph, Judicial Magistrate Zeshan Labha, Khalid Peter and representatives of minority community were present on the occasion.
Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs & Human Rights Ejaz Aalam Augustain congratulated the recipients of the scholarships and said that CM Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar had allocated funds for providing educational scholarships to the talented students of minorities during the current year and govt. was committed to raise the percentage of scholarship. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and CM Punjab were very much encouraging to the talented and promising students by providing them handsome scholarships and other awards which would help in bringing about the education revolution for the rapid development of the country.
The minister said that educational scholarships were being provided purely on merit basis with complete transparency. He asked the students to focus attention on getting education and skills for their prosperity. The minister said that the policy of 5 percent quota of minorities in govt. jobs had been implemented in letter and spirits on the orders of CM Punjab and the minority employees were serving in police, judiciary, civil service and other department on high and attractive posts through this policy.
He said that the minority citizens were also serving equally as Pakistani and the present government was protecting their rights for bringing them in the main stream of development. He said that Punjab Skills Development Program was also launching in which youth would be imparted training in different trades besides providing them handsome money to start their own business at the end of training.
He thanked the CM Punjab for looking after the rights of the minorities.
MPA Shakil Shahid greeted the students who had been selected for educational scholarships on merit and said that Punjab government had encouraged the talented students without any discrimination.
He said that the promising and capable students were our valuable asset and they would be provided all out resources and assistance for imparting them with higher education and skills. During the ceremony of scholarship distribution 50 thousands each were distributed among students of professional education, 30 thousands for Post Graduates, 25 thousands in Graduates,15 thousands in Inter and 10 thousands each in SSC students were distributed.
