The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Wednesday jacked up the price of indigenous liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs 1.70 per kg or Rs 19.11 per 11.8kg cylinder for the month of August 2019. According to a notification issued by Ogra, the LPG prices have been increased by Rs 1.70 per kg and the new price of 11.8kg domestic cylinder has been fixed at Rs 1,350.03. In July the price of the cylinder was Rs 1,330.92.
The producers' price of LPG (propane 40 percent and butane 60 percent) has been determined at 58,116.72 per metric tonne, which was Rs 56,733.40 per metric tonne in July. This producers' price included excise duty of Rs 85/M tonne while excluding Petroleum Levy. And under this head, the producer price of 11.8Kg cylinder has been worked out at Rs 685.78.
Marketing/distribution margin has been set at Rs 35,000 per MT or Rs 413 per 11.8kg cylinder, and Petroleum Levy of Rs 4,669 per MT will be also charged which will be Rs 55.09 for 11.8kg cylinder.
Prior to GST imposition, the consumer price (ex-GST) will be Rs 97,785.72 per metric tonne (in July it was Rs 96,402.40) and for the 11.8kg cylinder, price is Rs 1153.87. The GST at the rate of 17 percent will be Rs 16,623.57 per metric tonne and Rs 196.16 GST will be for each cylinder.
Final LPG consumer prices for the month under review has been fixed at Rs 114,409.29 per MT. Recently, the consumption of LPG has increased in Tandoor (ovens) where system gas is not available. The impact of increase in LPG prices will also have impact on the prices of Naan/Roti, a sector expert said.
