Twitter has sent notices to President Dr Arif Alvi and Minister for Communi-cations Murad Saeed along with several other politicians for raising voice over the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-Occupied Kashmir.
The recent actions by the social media site have sparked reaction among the masses. Saeed was informed by Twitter that it has received a complaint from India that his Twitter account shares contents that violate the Indian law. However, the minister stood his ground and said that he cannot be silenced.
Saeed tweeted, "Deploy armies, put barricades, suspend media, impose curfew, bar people from going [to] IOK. We can't be silenced [by] India, you will still be exposed. You will still be exposed."
Twitter also sent a notice to former interior minister, Rehman Malik, for sharing posts over India aggression in the Kashmir valley. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has raised its concern over the suspension of Twitter handles of Pakistani users for allegedly posting views in support of Kashmiri people and against atrocities by Indian forces in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) with Twitter administration.
The Authority through a letter has accused Twitter administration of being under the influence of Indian lobbies and suspending Pakistani users' accounts which is not only against the fundamental rights of users but is also in violation of Twitter's own community guidelines.
The PTA has written a letter to the Twitter administration, saying that prima facie, this action is in violation of the policy and community standards of Twitter, and an attempt to stifle freedom of expression.
The PTA has received complaints from over 200 Twitter users about blocking of their accounts apparently for advocating Kashmiri rights and condemning Indian forces' atrocities in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
