Saudi Foreign Minister Dr Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf has expressed concern over complex situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir during telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. According to statement of the Foreign Office, Foreign Minister Qureshi held telephonic conversation with his Saudi counterpart Dr Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf and updated him on the latest grave situation in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
It stated that Qureshi pointed out that the entire occupied valley has been under curfew for the last 26 days and all communication has been blocked in the area. He further told his Saudi counterpart that the Modi government through its August 5 illegal and unilateral steps has revoked the special status of Kashmir with a view to forcefully convert the Muslim majority into minority in the occupied valley.
Qureshi further said that the Indian government's unilateral steps are in complete violation of the international laws and the UN Security Council resolutions. "The Saudi foreign minister expressed concerns over the complex situation," the Foreign Office said, adding that the two foreign ministers also agreed to continue contacts for the peace and stability in the region. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Qureshi also held a telephonic conversation with his South Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wha and apprised him of the current situation in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson, the foreign minister briefed his South Korean counterpart in detail on the illegal and unilateral actions of India to alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir, which are in contravention of the international law and UNSC resolutions. Qureshi underlined that the steps taken by India in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir entailed a grave risk for peace and security in the region.
He also pointed to the irresponsible and belligerent statements by the Indian defence minister in the nuclear arena. The foreign minister further highlighted the danger of false flag operations staged by India in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir to divert the world's attention from the atrocities being committed by Indian forces. The foreign minister apprised him of the continuously deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir due to complete lockdown, severe shortage of food and lifesaving medicines and communications blackout.
"There was a danger that once the curfew was lifted, Indian forces would use further violent means, thus accentuating the humanitarian catastrophe, Qureshi further told his South Korean counterpart. He underscored that the international community had the responsibility to take urgent steps to address the current unacceptable situation in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
The South Korean Foreign Minister said that South Korea was following the situation closely, the spokesperson, adding that she also stated that South Korea believed in upholding of human rights and the rule of law. The two sides agreed to remain in contact and continue to work together for peace and stability in the region.
