The Defence Day and Kashmir Hour were observed throughout the Faisalabad Division with new zeal and national spirit to pay homage to the martyrs and ghazis of Pakistan and to express solidarity with the Kashmir brethrens.
Various programmes were held to commemorate the courage and supreme sacrifices rendered by Pak Army and other law enforcement agencies for the defence of motherland and war against terrorism. The special prayers were offered for the departed souls of martyrs and independence of held Kashmir in Jumma congregations. The officers of divisional and district administration along with the parliamentarians visited the residences of the families of martyrs of Armed forces.
The district administration arranged a seminar at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium in connection with the Defence Day.
Addressing the seminar divisional commissioner said the Defence Day reminded us those defining moments in our history when survival as a country was gravely threatened by Indian aggression. He said the Pakistan was facing numerous internal and external challenges but our defence was invincible and we are fully capable not only defending the territories of Pakistan but also had the power to give the decisive and befitting response to the enemies.
He said the everlasting sacrifices of the Pak Army martyrs could not be forgotten so as they strengthened the Pakistan by giving their valuable. Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Pak Army, the divisional commissioner said every Pakistani possessed capability to defend motherland and whole nation fought war along with Pak Army against India in Sep 1965 and now Pakistani nation was waging war against terrorism. He said the living nations always remember their past and learnt lesson from their history. He said national solidarity and unity was much needed now for the protection and safety of the Pakistan.
Addressing the seminar, deputy commissioner and CPO said we are proud of our heroes and martyrs and would not forget their valuable sacrifices rendered while protecting the nation and country.
He said we should reaffirm our pledge while observing the Defence Day to remain united, alert, vigilant and ready for defence of the country at all cost. Later, divisional commissioner, RPO, and deputy commissioner inaugurated the photo exhibition at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Art Gallery in which the portraits of the martyrs of armed forces, other law enforcement agencies and civil society were displayed.
