A local court on Saturday acquitted Nasir Janjua and two other accused in former Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik video sandal after Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) informed it that no evidence was found against them. The agency on September 2 arrested Khurrum Yousuf, Nasir Janjua and Ghulam Jillani for their alleged involvement in making a controversial video of the former accountability court judge.
According to the order of Judicial Magistrate Saqib Jawad, perusal of record shows that though the accused are nominated, nothing incriminating evidence against them could be brought on the record during the course of proceedings. No recovery has been affected during their physical custody. The order says that as per contention of the investigation officer of FIA, the accused were not found involved in commission of offences leveled in first information report (FIR) and the charges could not be established against them. The FIA prosecutor also supported the stance of investigation officer that it is a fit case to be discharged as no evidence is available on the record.
"Therefore, in view of the contention of the parties and material available on record, it is evident that not a single piece of evidence is available on the record against the present accused," it says, adding that remanding them into judicial custody would not serve any purpose as prosecution is firm that not a single piece of evidence and incriminating martial is available on the record. The court discharged Nasir Janjua, Ghulam Jillani and Khurram Shehzad from this case and ordered to release them if they are not required in any other case.
