Heat wave spell is expected to continue for the next 24 hours in Karachi and other parts of Sindh, despite a short windy-rainy period in the metropolis, the Met Office said on Monday. It said that a 'moderate' heat wave spell is likely to continue till Tuesday in Karachi and southern parts of Sindh. Maximum temperature may range between 37 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius. "Surface wind is likely to blow from East/Southeast direction," it added.
The city received a short spell of rain coupled with winds that pulled down temperature from 38 degrees Celsius during the day to 22.5 degrees Celsius soon after it fell in the evening. "Seasonal low lies over Northwest Balochistan. Weak monsoon currents are also penetrating in north eastern and southern parts of the country & likely to intensify on Tuesday," the met said.
In the next 24 hours: Hot and humid weather is expected in the most parts of the country with rains-wind-thunderstorm in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Hazara, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi Divisions, besides Islamabad and Kashmir. In the last 24 hours: Weather remained hot and humid in the most parts of the country. However, rain wind thunderstorm occurred at few places in Mithi and Islamabad. Mithi received 2mm and Islamabad 1mm.
Maximum temperature was recorded in Sibbi and Turbat 43 degrees Celsius, each, Lasbella and Nokkundi 42, each. Karachi and Hyderabad witnessed 38 degrees Celsius of temperature, followed by Multan 37, Peshawar, Lahore, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit 36, each, Quetta and Faisalabad 35, each, Islamabad 33.
