The incidents of armed robbery, snatching at gunpoint, motor vehicle theft and murder registered a significant increase during the last week, as over eight cases of various kinds of theft, seven cases of carjacking and three cases of murder were reported to different police stations of the city.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, the most "favourite" areas for the criminal gangs were with the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Nilor, Shalimar, Bhara Kahu, Karachi Company and Industrial Area police stations.
During the last week, Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases of auto theft and one case of armed snatching. The auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number LEH-9220 of Muzamil Ahmed valuing Rs 2.1 million and lifted a bike bearing registration number CR-470 worth Rs 20,000.
A group of armed robbers snatched jewellery and cash from a couple at gunpoint in Sector I-10, street No. 92, as soon as they arrived at their residence from airport early in the morning. The armed robbers also opened firing at the crime scene during the incident.
Three cases of murder were reported to Nilor police station. One Waqar Hayat filed a complaint with Nilor police that a school guard shot his nephew dead, who was a student of 6th class. Another Nizamat Ali filed a complaint with Nilor police station that Asadullah opened firing during fight over a land dispute and shot dead his father and brother.
Bhara Kahu police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft. One Faiz Memood informed Bhara Kahu police station that the unknown robbers stole cash and gold ornaments from his house. The auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number IDL-581 of one Muhammad Aslam valuing Rs 250,000.
In the aforementioned period, Karachi Company police station registered one case each of motor vehicle theft and robbery. The carjackers stole a car (IF-752) of a citizen namely Faisal Naeem valuing Rs 300,000. One Hafiz Rehman informed Karachi Company police station that accused Muhammad Umer stole cash and mobile phone from the reception of a guesthouse valuing Rs 98,000.
During the last week, two cases of robbery were reported to Shalimar police station. One victim Madeeha Ezaz filed a complaint with Shalimar police station that accused Khurram along with three other people snatched cash and a mobile phone from her. Another Ijaz Umer informed Shalimar police station that his housemaid along with accused Abdul Kareem stole Rs 150,000 cash. Similarly, Khanna police registered one case each of kidnapping and armed robbery.
