On the instructions of Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar, a new programme has been formulated for imparting education to out-of-school children of Lahore. Under this programme, preparations have started to open 100 new primary schools for out-of-school children. These primary schools will be opened in rented buildings and at such places where there is no school in nearby areas.
The out-of-school children will be enrolled in these schools whereas the proposal for setting up of mobile schools is being considered for increasing the literacy rate. Initially, mobile schools will be set up in 10 buses where education will be provided to the children working in populated and business areas. Around, Rs 260 million will be spent on both the programmes.
The Punjab CM while directing to finalize the programmes of opening 100 new schools and mobile schools on preferential basis said that practicable plan should immediately be presented. He said all possible measures will be taken for the promotion of education as providing quality education to the children is the state responsibility. Provincial Minister Education Schools Murad Raas, Special Secretary School Education, Project Director, PMIU and concerned authorities were also present on this occasion.
Moreover, the CM Sardar Usman Buzdar, while directing the WASA administration and concerned department to remain alert during heavy rain said that all out resources should be utilized for drainage of water and officers of WASA and concerned authorizes should remain present in the field.
He said drainage of rainy water should be ensured as soon as possible and all the machinery and necessary resources should be utilized for the early completion of water drainage work. He said traffic system should not be affected due to heavy rain and authorities should adopt comprehensive strategy for the smooth traffic flow. The CM said citizens should not face any difficulty and a report of the implementation of all above measures should be submitted to the Chief Minister office.
