Young Aehzam Ahmed won the inaugural 'player of the month' award announced by Pakistan Scrabble Association for the month of September-2019. The award was announced by the Director Youth Program, Tariq Pervez, to encourage participation in the weekly games which resumed after a gap of over a year. The interesting feature of the award is that it is presented to the player that improved their game the most during the month and not based on the number of wins.
This means that every player; new or experienced has an equal chance of winning. The improvement is measured by the rating points gained during a one month period using the international standard rating system. Pakistan Scrabble Association experienced a bumper participation in the weekly games after the announcement of the award.
Eight 8 years old Aehzam Ahmed gained 70 rating points in September to clinch the award. Saim Waqar who has represented Pakistan at international events gained 41 points in September and was 2nd while Hamda Adnan was 3rd and the top female with a gain of 39 points. The winners will be presented with cash and certificates.
