ISLAMABAD: Spillways of Rawal Dam have been opened here on Thursday as the water level has increased after the heavy rain in twin cities and catchment areas of Murree.
Water from the dam’s spillways flows to Sawan river after passing through Korang Nullah.
The filling up of Rawal Dam will help address water shortages in the twin cities, said official of Capital Development Authority (CDA).
He said there was enough water in the Rawal and Khanpur dams to meet the city’s water requirements for the next eight months, He added that more rainfall in the coming days will increase the water level further, and the upcoming monsoon will improve the water situation in the city areas as well.
