ISLAMABAD: Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Tuesday said the role of business community was imperative in the progress of the country and all resources were being utilised to bring back the looted billion of rupee in to the country. Talking to a delegation of business community, he said NAB considered eradication of corruption as its national responsibility.

He urged all segments of society to play their role in economic progress of the country. Prosperous traders make the country prosperous, said a press release issued here.

Since inception, he said the anti graft watch dog had deposited Rs 303 billion in the national exchequer after recovering from the corrupt elements.

The plunderers of the country possessed precious property in the country and abroad besides having billions of rupees, from where they got huge money and property, he posed the question. He said NAB did not breach self esteem of any suspect during investigations of cases and the suspects were summoned and dealt in NAB with respect and dignity.

He said as a judge, he had already provided relief to aggrieved persons and now in his new stint, he was trying utmost to help people. Immediately, after taking responsibilities of coveted office, the chairman had decided to listen people’s grievances by himself on last Thursday of every month. He said NAB respected the business community, who provided job to hundreds of labours. NAB was taking action against the owners of fake housing societies on depriving the people from their life earned money.

Despite promise, the people were not given plots or returned money. People were suffering due to this fraud committed by fake housing societies.

NAB has already returned Rs 1 billion to the effectees. A special desk, headed by a director has been established at NAB for resolving grievances of business community.

The country owed $95 billion foreign debt . The money should have been spent on the progress of country and people’s welfare. NAB is duty bound to know the spending of the money. NAB has affiliations with only Pakistan. Our aim is to improve economy and bring back the looted money stashed abroad. Representatives of business community said they were firmly stand behind NAB chairman for eradication of corruption.

They appreciated the accountability policy of NAB. Appreciating accountability for all policy of NAB, he said the performance of NAB has registered marked improvement specially after taking charge by the incumbent chairman.
