KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah on Wednesday stressed the need to improve the tax collection system under a data-based strategy, with a view to set up a mechanized way for tax collection.
Presiding over a meeting to discuss and review the tax collection process of various departments including Board of Revenue (BOR) Sindh, Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) and Excise & Taxation Department, chief secretary urged to ensure transparency in tax collection process, said a press release.
During the meeting, a committee was constituted to cumulate the data-based systems of all Departments of Sindh Government with a view to streamline the Tax collection & Recovery System to facilitate the tax payers in all respect.
The committee headed by Secretary Information Technology Ali Bahadur Qazi will submit a report in this regard. Chief Secretary emphasized for the computerization of all taxes including professional tax, agriculture tax, stamp duty and others. A comprehensive survey would also be conducted throughout the province to this effect.
Chairman Planning & Development (P&D) Board Muhammad Waseem, Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Muhammad Hussain Syed, Chairman SRB Khalid Khan, Secretary E&T, Rahim Shaikh, Secretary Finance Najam Shah and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Earlier, the chairman P&D Board, Chairman SRB, Secretary E&T and SMBR briefed the meeting regarding the tax collection system.
