KARACHI: Pakistan seafood export declined to $247.991 million in July-Feb 2018-19, low by 6.14 percent or $16.226 million, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics says.

The fishermen attribute the fall in seafood export to the low fisheries catch after the federal government banned unliecened fishing beyond 12 nautical miles through a deep sea fishing policy.

The ban which was suspended by the court just lately, had hurt not only export but local fishermen living.

The court helped resume the deep sea fishing after four months, President Sindh Trawlers Owners and Fishermen Association, Habibullah Khan Niazi told Business Recorder.
