RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner(DC)Chaudary Muhammad Ali Randhawa Tuesday said the five-day anti-polio campaign, which began in three tehsils of the district including Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation and Cantonments areas of the district entered into its second day successfully.
Chairing a meeting to review ongoing anti-polio campaign, the DC said monitoring teams have been activated and nine supervisors have been appointed to monitor the drive in an efficient manner.
The DC advised parents to come forward and play their role in ensuring vaccination of their children to eliminate the disease from society.
On the occasion, the health official briefed the meeting that special attention is being given to high risk union councils of Safdarabad and Dhoke Dalal as water environmental sample tested positive in these areas.
Under the drive, he said, over 300,000 children under five years of age have so far administered the polio vaccine on its second day in Tehsil Rawalpindi, Taxila, Gujar-Khan, Rawalpindi city and Rawalpindi/ Chaklala cantonment board areas.
He said polio drops were also being administered to children upto 10 years in six UCs of Rawalpindi city and one UC of Rawalpindi cantonment which have been declared at high-risk areas.
