KARACHI: Police officers baton charged protesting teachers of government schools outside Press Club in Karachi.
As per details, the security officials resorted to shelling and also used water canon to disperse the protesters who were marching towards the red zone area. At least 10 teachers injured in the clash.
On the occasion, female teachers were also present in large number.
Teachers of Sindh government-run schools were protesting in favour of their demands. Protesters were demanding regularisation of contract, time scale and change of cadre.
“We were marching peacefully," said a teacher while talking exclusively to Business Recorder. "But out of nowhere, Police started shelling and baton charged at us. As the result several protestors including women were injured.”
He added: “I didn’t see police arresting any protestor.”
