KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notice to Director General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh and sought reply in a petition against a NAB Investigation Officer accused of demanding bribe.
A two-member bench headed by SHC chief justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh heard the petition filed by a citizen Imran Ali against NAB IO Sajid Naeem who allegedly demanded bribe from him.
The petitioner stated before the bench that NAB IO called him last night at 2:00 am at a builder Farooq’s house, who is close friend of IO, and an estate agent was also present there. ‘’IO asked me to pay him Rs1million bribe,’’ he said.
The petitioner provided recording of the voice of the IO to the bench.
The chief justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh lashed out at NAB’s IO and remarked: ‘At least you should have thought that you are related to a national institution, so do not harm the status of this national institution if you cannot increase its honor and respect.’’
The bench issued notice to DG NAB and sought reply from him.
