WhatsApp has announced that it will soon cut off support for all of Windows smartphones by the end of this year, while some features might stop working ‘any time’.

In a recent blog post, popular messaging app WhatsApp declared that it will stop working on all smartphones powered by Microsoft software Windows by December 2019.

The firm also warned that some of the WhatsApp features might stop functioning at any time on these devices. “You’ll no longer be able to use all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, 2019,” the blog post read. “Because we no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time.”

Microsoft to kill Windows 10 Mobile, recommends users to switch to Android, iOS

WhatsApp also announced that by the year 2020, they will end support on Android version 2.3.7 and older, and also from iOS 7 and older, reported Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, the statement came after Microsoft’s decision to cut down support for the Windows software from December the same year. Advising people to switch to iOS or Android device, Microsoft also notified that it will stop supporting Windows 10 Mobile starting December 10, 2019, due to lack of market penetration and no interest from app developers.
