ISLAMABAD: Managing Director of Utility Stores Corporation (USC) Umer Lodhi Sunday said all quality products are available in abundance at special subsidised prices at all outlets of utility stores corporation in the country with thirteen member special monitoring teams.

Talking to PTV news channel,  MD USC has made it clear that supply of sub-standard items will not be tolerated, and companies will be blacklisted with heavy penalties on doing so.

Lodhi said that priority of the USC would be to evolve institutional mechanism for quality control of the items, adding that professionally qualified firms were also being engaged for quality test of items.

He said that a significant reduction had been announced by the present government in many items that were mostly used during the fasting month.

Monitoring and evaluation teams were also be sent to verify the public complaints, adding that complaint center was also established in this

regard, he added.

He said all the line departments had also been assigned duties and directed by the authorities concerned to perform in an efficient manner.

He said the corporation intends to provide essential 19 commodities on subsidised rates to facilitate the middle income and lower income people through its countrywide network.

“we are committed to maintain transparency in the corporation and will provide quality items to the customers. he added.

He said that an effective monitoring system has been evolved to keep an eye on prices and quality of daily use items in Ramazan bazaars, adding that all possible measures would be taken to ensure that every penny of Ramazan package should reach the people.

USC will reduce the prices of essential food and non-food items under different brands from 5 percent to 10 percent by obtaining special discount from the vendors and suppliers, he added.

Any shortage of essential items in utility stores will not be tolerated and supply of commodities in market should be closely monitored, he assured.
