ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was fully committed to strengthen the country's economy and bring back looted money from the plunderers.

Talking to a private news channel, she said democracy was not in danger, in fact, corrupt people were facing trouble. She added that Imran Khan was determined to eliminate corruption from the society.

She stated that Opposition leaders, who wanted to protect themselves from corruption cases, were making hue and cry, over democracy.  Whenever the government institutions like National Accountability Bureau (NAB),  tried to initiate the accountability process against the corrupt  elements, they claimed democracy was "in danger," she added.

Appreciating the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), leader Imran Khan, who had a  vision for alleviating poverty and bring the country from present challenges. She said establishment of the shelter houses in different parts of the country was an ample proof of the prime minister's commitment to address issues of the common man.

Commenting on the current situation, the special assistant to the prime minister said  people were confronted with multiple challenges due to the weak policies of the previous governments.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the prime minister was leaving no stone unturned to provide relief to the common man, which she added was the priority of the PTI's government.

The youth, she said, was a vital source of PTI, adding that there was a need to empower them.  A scheme for youth would be launched for providing loan facility to create business opportunities in the area, she added.

Firdous said that the scheme would help pave the way for improving the economic condition of the country.

Lamenting over the lethargic attitude and policies of the previous governments, she said the leader of the last PPP government had been chanting slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makan’  for luring people but they did nothing for them.

While the PTI government after coming into power had taken many initiatives for shelter-less people besides announcing a health card policy and housing scheme for low income group.

To a question she lauded the efforts of the media persons who played a vital role in projecting the positive image of the country.
