Uber to deactivate riders with below average rating from the app

All those riders who have a poor or below average rating for whatever reasons, will now be deactivated from the app

All those riders who have a poor or below average rating for whatever reasons, will now be deactivated from the app, the ride hailing service has announced.

Ride-hailing company Uber has now turned tables after it recently announced that any rider with ‘below average rating’ will risk deactivation from the app – something that was already applicable to drivers with low ratings.

Those at risk of getting banned will first get a warning and different tips and advice in order to improve their rating. Also, they will be given a chance to improve their behavior too. Kate Parker, Uber’s head of safety brand and initiatives said, “Riders may lose access to Uber if they develop a significantly below average rating.

Uber will now show public transit options in its app

Riders will receive tips on how to improve their ratings, such as encouraging polite behavior, avoiding leaving trash in the vehicle and avoiding requests for drivers to exceed the speed limit. Riders will have several opportunities to improve their rating prior to losing access to the Uber apps,” she added.

According to The Verge, some leaked documents from 2015 stated that Uber drivers risk deactivation when their rating falls below 4.6, however, the threshold for riders wasn’t disclosed by the company.
