LAHORE: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Thursday said the narrative of opposition parties was to hide their own corruption and they were not concerned about problems faced by people.

She was talking to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar here.

She said opposition parties were responsible for the increasing problems of the people, adding politics of these parties was rejected in the general election.

She said the government was taking all possible steps for welfare of the people. The chief minister, she added, was serving the people with sincerity.

The chief minister said the era of those who looted the national resources would not return.

He said those who did corruption in projects were the real culprits, adding the former rulers wasted the national resources on projects undertaken for the purpose of self projection. Personal accounts were filled by looting national wealth, he said adding, those who looted public money would be held accountable.

Buzdar said Pakistan would only move forward with indiscriminate accountability of corrupt elements.

The government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led by Prime Minister Imran Khan considered national resources of the country as a trust. The present leadership had ended the tradition of spending public wealth for fulfilling personal needs, he added.

The chief minister said now public money would be spent on welfare of the people, adding the government would continue delivering public service without caring about the criticism.

New records of service to the people would be set to show respect for the public mandate, she said.
