CHICAGO: Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans rose at interior elevators and river terminals around the eastern US Midwest on Friday, grain dealers said.
Cash bids for corn also were strong at ethanol plants east of the Mississippi River.
Bids for both commodities were steady west of the Mississippi River and at processors around the region.
Sales on the cash market were slow, with prices languishing below levels hit in recent weeks, dealers said.
Additionally, farmers were reluctant to book new contracts due to concerns about how big harvest will be in the fall.
