Punjab CM calls on Chairman Senate
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday met Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at Parliament House Islamabad.
During the meeting, various matters of mutual interest including the development process and important national affairs came under discussion.
The Senate Chairman said that upper house of the parliament represents federation, adding that the house would continue to raise the voice of the federating units in an effective manner so that disfranchised segments of the society could be brought into the national mainstream of development.
He said the solution of problems lies in democracy and added that we all have to play our role for the continuity of the democratic process. He reiterated that the upper house of the parliament was vigorously working for the development of federating units and the protection of rights of backward segments of the society.
In this regard, provincial governments will be provided every possible support, he added.
There is a need for harmony between federal and provincial governments and the Senate would continue to play its leading role in this regards, concluded Sadiq Sanjrani.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that elected representatives of Punjab had full confidence over Chairman Senate and we have full confidence that opposition's no-confidence motion would be unsuccessful. Instead of weakening the democratic process through differences, it is the right time to ensure the implementation of the national development agenda
aiming at promoting national unity and coherence, he said.
He said the Senate Chairman was vigorously striving for the protection of rights of provincial units and his role was pivotal for arranging unity among the provinces.
Usman Buzdar also apprised the Senate Chairman about the steps taken for socio-economic development of the province.
