HAMBURG: The Korea Feed Association (KFA) has issued an international tender to purchase up to 69,000 tonnes of corn, European traders said on Friday.
The tender seeking corn for arrival around Jan. 15, 2020, closes on Aug. 16.
The KFA's Busan section is seeking corn in one consignment of 50,000 tonnes to 69,000 tonnes and sellers have been asked to submit offers within this range.
Shipment is sought between Dec. 12 and Dec. 31 if sourced from the US Pacific Northwest Coast, between Nov. 22 and Dec. 11 if from the US Gulf or east Europe, between Nov. 17 and Dec. 6 if sourced from South America or between Nov. 27 and Dec. 16 if from South Africa.
Asian corn import interest was generated after Chicago corn futures fell around 11% this week, hitting three-year lows after the US Department of Agriculture on Monday forecast a bigger-than-expected US harvest.
Over 260,000 tonnes of corn being purchased by South Korea was reported this week in a series of deals with buyers, including Korea's largest feedmaker Nonghyup Feed Inc (NOFI), the Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) and the KFA's Incheon section.
