KARACHI: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) observed Kashmir Solidarity Hour on the theme “Kashmir is of Kashmiris, Kashmiris are of Pakistanis and Pakistan is of Kashmiris” to give a message to the world that the Pakistani nation stands by the people of occupied valley who have been facing unprecedented human rights violation in occupied territory.

The event was attended by the Chancellor Jawaid Anwar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali, and a large number of faculty and students. A rally was also staged on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Jawaid Anwar, Chancellor SSUET, said that we are all gathered here to show solidarity with Kashmiris and to give them message that we stand by them at the crucial time of their life. Kashmir is very important for Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Kashmir is under siege for a long period and Kashmiris are cut off from the rest of the world. There is scarcity of food and medicines, even lifesaving drugs are not available for people there. Smell of blood and flesh is in the air. India is trying to label Kashmiris’ fight for their rights as ethnic riots. However, it is purely a human right issue. The time now demands to approach international human rights organisation such as Red Cross, Border free Doctor etc. to intervene in Kashmir to give relief to the Kashmiris and restore their due rights. The organisations must be asked to provide foods and medicines to the Kashmiris.

Appreciating the performance of Pak Army, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that our soldiers are sacrificing their life for tborder's but also countering enemies’ conspiracies at every place. We should be thankful to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and his team who made Pakistan unbeatable.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that India is using ballot guns on innocent people that is making situation more dangerous. Kashmiris are our Muslim brothers and we cannot leave them alone at this crucial phase, especially when Indian soldiers are taking them to the task. “Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the UN Charter and Security Council’s resolutions,” he further added.
