Arrest warrant issued against Indian speedster Shami for domestic violence
Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami's domestic abuse scandal took a wild turn after a Indian district court issued an arrest warrant against the speedster in connection with domestic violence case filed by Shami's wife Hasin Jahan.
The court has asked him to surrender within 15 days. Meanwhile, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) says that it was too early to take any action against Shami and the decision would be taken once the charge sheet is received.
"Yes, we do understand that an arrest warrant has been issued. But don't really see us getting involved in this at this point in time. Once we see the charge sheet, we can decide how things stand and if the BCCI constitution calls for any action. But at this point in time, I would say it is too early to take a call on the matter," the BCCI functionary said, quoted IANS.
Shami at the moment is present in Jamaica, and is part of the Indian squad for the West Indies tour. Last year, Shami and his brother were booked under IPC Section 498A in case of domestic violence after Hasin Jahan lodged a complaint.
