Lamborghini debuts its first ever hybrid supercar costing whopping $3.6mn
With the growing fame of electric and hybrid cars, automaker Lamborghini too has joined the race and revealed its first ever hybrid supercar.
Italian sport car maker Lamborghini recently debuted the Sián, its first hybrid car featuring immense top speed and horsepower.
“The Lamborghini Sian represents the first step in Lamborghini’s route to electrification, and expedites our next-generation V12 engine,” said Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini chairman and chief executive officer.
As detailed by Futurism, the Sián comes in with a 785 horsepower (HP) V12 engine, but with an additional 34HP electric motor, the car has the ability to jump from a zero to 62mph in only 2.8 seconds. Also, having a top speed of 217mph, Lamborghini claims that it is the lowest weight-to-power ratio in any V12 Lamborghini ever.
Not only this, Lamborghini Sián also features ‘the world-first application of a supercapacitor for hybridization and new materials technology’. As per Lamborghini, this new technology is three times stronger than the lithium-ion batteries present in conventional electric and hybrid cars. The Sián can also entirely recharge its hybrid electric motor every time the rider hit the brakes.
However, unfortunately Lamborghini notified that only 63 of these Sián will ever be made, and all of them have already been sold, each costing $3.6 million.
“The Sián is a masterpiece in possibilities,” commented Domenicali. “Not only does the Sián deliver a formidable hyper-car design and engineering tour de force today, it augments the potential for Lamborghini as a super sports car brand for tomorrow and for decades to come, even as hybridization becomes more desirable and inevitably essential.”
