Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad is eager to make a good impression as the batsman will be making his comeback in upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka.

“I am thankful to the Almighty that I have gotten an opportunity to represent the Pakistan team once again,” said Shehzad, quoted PCB. “For me, this opportunity feels like I am wearing the Pakistan’s kit for the first time.”

The Lahore-born opening batsman, who last represented Pakistan back in 2018 against Scotland, said that playing in front of his home crowd is something really special. “I am extremely excited [for] getting an opportunity to play cricket at my home ground and in front of my people. It cannot get any bigger for me to be playing cricket in front of my people. Our people are passionate about the game. It unites us and people pray for our success,” he said.

Shehzad, alongside middle order batsman Umar Akmal, who last represented Pakistan in T20I back in September 2016 against the West Indies, were picked among the 16-member squad for three T20Is against Sri Lanka, to be played in Lahore from October 5 to 9.

“Ahmed has performed pretty well alongside Umar Akmal, who has been performing exceptionally in all formats especially in T20 format,” stated Pakistan’s head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq.
