The Karachi Port handled 213,569 tonnes of cargo comprising 143,130 tonnes of import cargo and 70,439 tonnes of export cargo including 8,294 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 143,130 tonnes comprised of 47,962 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,953 tonnes of DPA; 1,800 tonnes of ammonium sulphate; 2,447 tonnes of yellow peas; 2,377 tonnes of canola and 79,591 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 70,439 tonnes comprised of 39,621 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,418 tonnes of clinkers and 400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,294 containers comprising of 3,614 containers import and 4,680 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 913 of 20's and 1,260 of 40's loaded while 05 of 20's and 88 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 891 of 20's and 730 of 40's loaded containers while 249 of 20's and 1,680 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely Scot Hamburg carrying chemicals sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. APL Maxico City, MT Lahore and Thor Independence carrying containers, oil tanker and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 129,042 tonnes comprising 49,899 tonnes of import cargo and 79,143 tonnes of export cargo including 2,993 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 49,899 tonnes includes 18,495 tonnes of coal; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 11,100 tonnes of palm oil; 1,015 tonnes of chemical; 4,984 tonnes of general cargo and 9,405 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 79,143 tonnes includes 6,681 tonnes of cement, 25,000 tonnes of crude oil and 47,462 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,993 containers comprising of 495 containers import and 2,498 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely MOL Generosity and MSC Asya carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely Anna Dorothea and Ranger carrying coal and soyabean respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, cement, LNG, crude oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as three vessels viz. Tegea, Sakizaya Hero and Fotini Lady carrying cement, canola and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Kyoto Express, Hansa America and Tiger Winter carrying containers and cement respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Kyoto Express and Hansa America carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while two more ships namely APL Mexico City and Nordmed carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
