The Karachi Port handled 74,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 62,690 tonnes of import cargo and 11,320 tonnes of export cargo including 1,870 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 62,690 tonnes comprised of 19,530 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,970 tonnes of bulk cargo; 19,868 tonnes of DPA; 6,548 tonnes of yellow peas and 2,774 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 11,320 tonnes comprised of 5,040 tonnes of containerised cargo; 280 tonnes of clinker and 6,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 1,870 containers comprising of 1,562 containers import and 308 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 270 of 20's and 540 of 40's loaded while 22 of 20's and 95 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 142 of 20's and 83 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Ever Deluxe, Cape Male, Halil Shain and Justice Victoria carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, canola, DAP, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Ningbo Express, Irenes Reliance, Neveska Lady and Grace carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 103,559 tonnes comprising 73,815 tonnes of import cargo and 29,744 tonnes of export cargo including 1,174 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 73,815 tonnes includes 30,871 tonnes of coal; 5,000 tonnes of canola; 14,974 tonnes of mogas; 16,860 tonnes of palm oil; 510 tonnes general cargo and 5,700 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 29,744 tonnes includes 13,138 tonnes of general cargo and 16,606 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,174 containers comprising of 300 containers import and 874 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There was one ship namely Cornella-1 carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely Mandarin Crown, Sea Champion and Han Ren carrying coal and general cargo expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, cement, coal, canola, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as five vessels viz. APL New York, HTK Discovery, Ocean Beauty, Tiger Winter and Norstar Integrity carrying containers, steel coil, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. APL New York, Maersk Pittsburgh and HTK Discovery carrying containers and steel coil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There was one ship namely Maersk Pittsburgh carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
