Terming poverty as the root cause of societal disorder, the Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Wednesday said that poverty alleviation is imperative for overcoming the menace of fanaticism from society.
In his message on 'International Day for the Eradication of Poverty', the CM said that unjust distribution of resources widens the divide between the poor and the rich. It is, therefore, imperative that unjustified distribution of resources should be stopped to reduce poverty. "The PTI government has a full understanding of problems being faced by the poor segments of the society and a number of programmes have been started to check poverty," he said, adding: "Improving a lot of the poor segments of the society is a part of governmental priorities."
Moreover, talking to notables from DG Khan, the CM said that midnight oil was being burnt by the government to bring real change in the country. He emphasised that those who are making hue and cry of agitation have neither any agenda nor any public welfare programme. "Now is the time to maintain unity instead of indulging in the politics of chaos," he said.
Buzdar said that the elements doing the politics of personal interest will not get anything except failure. No one will be allowed to hinder the national development process, he asserted. "We all will move forward to materialize the dream of change in the country. My contact with the people is even stronger as I belong to them and know the problems being faced by the people," he added.
