The Karachi Port handled 97,905 tonnes of cargo comprising 53,191 tonnes of import cargo and 44,714 tonnes of export cargo including 2,983 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 53,191 tonnes comprised of 23,988 tonnes of containerised cargo; 753 tonnes of bulk cargo; 21,480 tonnes of DPA; 6,970 tonnes of yellow peas and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 44,714 tonnes comprised of 19,638 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,076 tonnes of clinker and 7,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,983 containers comprising of 1,716 containers import and 1,267 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 402 of 20's and 647 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 639 of 20's and 266 of 40's loaded containers while 02 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely KMTC Mumbai, Irenes Reliance and Heilan Cruiser carrying containers and steel coils respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. GSL Eleni, Seaspan Yangtze and Praslin carrying containers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 152,861 tonnes comprising 101,347 tonnes of import cargo and 51,514 tonnes of export cargo including 2,932 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 101,347 tonnes includes 65,833 tonnes of LNG; 15,500 tonnes of canola; 275 tonnes of mogas; 6,700 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,000 tonnes chemical and 11,039 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,514 tonnes includes 6,845 tonnes of cement and 44,669 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,932 containers comprising of 581 containers import and 2,351 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely APL New York and Tiger Winter carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, canola, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as four vessels viz. Triton Valk, Ocean Beauty, Al Ghariya and TRF Kristian Sand carrying coal, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. CMA CGM Al Maviva, Maersk Brooklyn, Triton Valk, Serene Susannah, Al Ghariya and TRF Kristian Sand carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were four ships namely CMA CGM Al Maviva, Maersk Brooklyn, Smiley Lady and Serene Susannah carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely GSL Eleni carrying containers respectively is due to arrive on Friday.
