'Azadi March': Masses cannot be left at the mercy of armed 'insurgents': Rashid
The masses cannot be left at the mercy of armed 'insurgents' and law would take its course if Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl's 'Azadi March' creates law and order situation. This was stated by Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad while talking to the media here on Tuesday. Rashid said the government is not afraid of the JUI-F's march, but it has decided to exercise restraint in dealing with the opposition in view of delicate situation.
He said that Pakistan has been facing intense challenges at the borders. "At this time, undeclared war is ongoing at the borders. We cannot remain silent on the statements of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he added. He further said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman's ego has inflated just like a balloon. It is going to burst soon and when it happens, everyone will see it. Rehman is leading political parties for the first time, the minister said. "We cannot let the stick brigade decide the future of our nation. The balloon of Maulana Fazlur Rehman's protest (Azadi March) will be punctured soon," he added.
The railways minister said if Rehman needs face-saving then he must be given that. "The people cannot be left at the mercy of armed people," he further said. Replying to a question, Rashid said that he is in contact with President PML-N Shahbaz Sharif. "Shahbaz Sharif is my friend," he added.
