Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday said that Pakistan is facing internal and external challenges and in these circumstances, any move of dividing the nation for the sake of personal interests would be an imprudent act.

"The politically conscious people are sick and tired with the politics of degeneration because they have fully understood that a specific agenda is hidden behind the politics of anarchy," the CM said, adding: "The elements, rejected in the general elections, have no concern with problems of the people; in fact, these elements want to descend the country into chaos and have totally ignored the national interest."

The CM said: "The people have rejected the negative politics of rejected elements because this motherland demands unity and solidarity from us; nations are developed and prosperous with the power of unity and attempt of promoting chaos is, in fact, a conspiracy to divide the nation."

In a statement, here on Tuesday, the CM maintained that the opposition has no agenda of public welfare. In fact, the opposition parties, which are ideologically opponents to each others, are united for safeguarding their personal interests.

The chief minister emphasised that designs of the elements creating anarchy in the country will never be succeeded and the durable development, attained in a short period of time, will not be succumbed to negative politics.

Usman Buzdar said that everyone should play a collective role for the national development and added that stability is essential for development and prosperity. He maintained that the most transparent government is setting new records of public service while the rejected political elements are bent upon taking revenge from the people by slowing down the development process to take revenge of their failures.

Moreover, on the instructions of chief minister, Punjab government has accorded approval to the release of funds for free treatment of cancer patients.

In this regard, the CM said that the Punjab government will release funds worth seven billion rupees for providing free of cost treatment to the cancer patients for the next five years.

A meeting of Cabinet Committee on Finance and Development was held in with Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht and Provincial Minister for Information Mian Aslam Iqbal in the chair.

The meeting gave approval to the release of funds for providing free treatment to the cancer patients. The meeting also accorded approval to disburse pending amount of Rs 1.16 billion to Novartis Pharma Pakistan. This amount will be released under a supplementary grant.
