Tribesmen have voiced concern over delay in provision of Rs100 billion uplift packages for erstwhile Federal Administered Tribal Areas and asked the government to materialize its commitment to bring the merged districts at par with other parts of the country.

They were addressing at a grand tribal jirga of the elites organized by the Qabail Tahaffuz Movement (QTM) at Shahkas, Jamrud Khyber district on Monday. Tribal elders from the all merged tribal districts participated in the event.

QTM Central president Sardar Asghar Afridi, Malik Waris Afridi, Malik Naib, Malik Akbar were key-note speakers on the occasion.

Tribesmen said that the merging case had become disputed as the case was accepted for trial in the Supreme Court and therefore the provincial govt had no authority to interfere in the merged tribal districts.

They witnessed that the infrastructure in the merged districts had completely destroyed. The tribal leaders criticized the government for using delaying tactics in provision of Rs100 billion development projects in erstwhile Fata.

QTM activists asked the government to take pragmatic steps to ensure availability of potable water, electricity, school, colleges as well as initiation of other mega projects. They maintained that Sikh community of India were facilitated at Kartarpur border while extra-restrictions had been imposed on Pak-Afghan sharing border, Torkham and left thousands of locals jobless that was injustice to them.

A representative jirga of all tribal was formed to conduct the Qabail Tahaffuz Movement. Tribal leaders have asked the government to expedite process of mainstreaming the former Federal Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) under rejected merging of the ex-tribal agencies and said the case against the merging had been accepted in the Supreme Court for trial.
