KARACHI: School of Leadership Foundation have launched the generation unlimited youth challenge 2.0 in partnership with UNICEF and UNDP.
The challenge will take place in over 40 countries worldwide, including Pakistan. It calls on young innovators across the country to design solutions to improve education, employment and civic engagement.
The youth challenge encourages youth between the age of 14-24 to come forward to participate in this challenge.
This year’s theme is “Opening Doors, Knowledge and skills for Empowered Youth”. The need to empower youth for a better tomorrow is connected both, to the financial elevation as well as increment of the standard of living.
Awareness is a key factor for this empowerment, with guidance towards developing a wholesome outlook of life. Youth empowerment in any development is imperative not only for national development of an entire country but also for personal development of an individual.
A call for applications have been launched in Pakistan on 11th of November 2019 and successful applicants will be invited to take part in design workshops in Islamabad in January 2020.
Following these workshops, the five most promising ideas from each country will be selected and awarded USD 1,000 each in funding and provided with mentoring to support the projects’ implementation.
Then, in June 2020, the most promising solutions from each country will be submitted to a global judging process. These projects will receive further funding of up to $20,000, along with a tailored global incubation programme from Generation Unlimited partners to support them to scale. Deadline for idea submission is Friday 31 November 2019.
The challenge in Pakistan is being implemented by the School of Leadership Foundation.
The most promising ideas will contribute to the success of Generation Unlimited, an ambitious multi-sector public-private global partnership meant to meet the urgent needs for expanded education, training and employment opportunities for young people on an unprecedented scale.
