The Karachi Port handled 205,742 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,317 tonnes of import cargo and 87,425 tonnes of export cargo including 9,202 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 118,317 tonnes comprised of 63,433 tonnes of ontainerised cargo; 10,471 tonnes of DPA and 44,413 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 87,425 tonnes comprised of 60,338 tonnes of containerised cargo; 176 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,305 tonnes of clinker; 10,106 tonnes of cement and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,202 containers comprising of 4,211 containers import and 4,991 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,804 of 20's and 1,029 of 40's loaded while 179 of 20's and 85 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,518 of 20's and 962 of 40's loaded containers while 157 of 20's and 696 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Xpress Annapurna, Altonia and Clemens Schulte carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Hyundai Colombo, OOCL California, Polo, Stolt Commitment and SSI Triumph carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 157,239 tonnes comprising 145,820 tonnes of import cargo and 11,419 tonnes of export cargo including 3,451 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 145,820 tonnes includes 77,501 tonnes of coal; 2,209 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,010 tonnes of palm oil; 4,200 tonnes of canola; 4,750 tonnes of chemical and 54,150 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 11,419 tonnes includes 11,419 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,451 containers comprising of 2,850 containers import and 601 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely African Spoonbill and Bao Elm carrying coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely RHL Marta, Shan Dong Fu Xin and Mid Eagle carrying coal, canola and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Pan Ceres, Anasa, Morea, GS Avenue, Chemroad Hawk, Al Nouman, Nord Nepton, The Odosia and JBU Onyk carrying soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MOL Generosity, Morea, Pan Ceres, Chemroad Hawk, Al Nouman and JBU Onyk carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ships namely MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two ships namely APL Antwerp and Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
