The Karachi Port handled 207,001 tonnes of cargo comprising 148,686 tonnes of import cargo and 58,315 tonnes of export cargo including 10,382 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 148,686 tonnes comprised of 88,259 tonnes of ontainerised cargo; 13,209 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,418 tonnes of DPA and 36,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 58,315 tonnes comprised of 22,656 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,104 tonnes of bulk cargo; 25,264 tonnes of clinker; 3,691 tonnes of cement and 5,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 10,382 containers comprising of 6,450 containers import and 3,932 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,660 of 20's and 2,291 of 40's loaded while 156 of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 665 of 20's and 216 of 40's loaded containers while 197 of 20's and 1,932 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Hyundai Colombo, OOCL California, Coral Star, MT Shalamar, Freedom Line, Elandra Spruce and Grace carrying containers, oil tanker, cement, mogas and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, Express Athens, OOCL California, MT Lahore, Sunray, Sea Star, Koushun, Emma and Vigorous carrying containers, oil tankers, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 215,236 tonnes comprising 177,483 tonnes of import cargo and 37,753 tonnes of export cargo including 3,416 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 177,483 tonnes includes 69,151 tonnes of coal; 60,055 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,500 tonnes of palm oil; 2,119 tonnes of soyabean; 13,500 tonnes of chemical and 27,151 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 37,753 tonnes includes 37,753 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,416 containers comprising of 1,429 containers import and 1,987 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely CSAV Tyndall, Stella Island, IVS Haya Kita and Tom Ismini carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as four vessels viz. Anasa, GS Avenue, Nord Nepton and The Odosia carrying coal, chemical and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. APL Antwerp, Maersk Brooklyn, Winner Tiger and The Odosia carrying containers, general cargo and mogas respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely APL Antwerp and Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CMA CGM Medea carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
