Brushing aside the speculations of midterm elections, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will complete its constitutional tenure of five years.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the chief minister slammed the opposition parties, especially the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl's (JUI-F) Azadi March, saying that precious time of the nation has been lost due to aimless protests and sit-ins. Without naming the JUII-F, the CM said: "Those elements which staged such protests in Islamabad will never be forgiven by the nation. At this time, there was the dire need of showing unity instead of spreading uncalled unrest in the country which is contrary to national interests."

According to Buzdar, the country is treading on the path of durable progress and stability under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and "no one will be allowed to create hurdles in its path of progress and prosperity". Few elements do not want Pakistan to move forward in the right direction, he added. He said the opposition parties should follow the path of wisdom rather showing irrationality. "We will have to desist from negative politics for the sake of nation's prosperity. The country cannot progress by resorting to politics of chaos and the only path to progress is to create and ensure stability and unity among our ranks."

The CM said that everyone will have to play his/her role for the progress and prosperity of our homeland. Keeping in view grave situation in Occupied Kashmir, it is not "reasonable" to stage sit-ins and protest demonstration," he added.
