  • The opposition's Rehbar Committee submitted a letter to the chief election commissioner.
  • They want the case to be heard on a daily basis.

The opposition's Rehbar Committee submitted on Wednesday a memorandum to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) demanding that a case against ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) foreign funds be heard on a daily basis.

Earlier today, the opposition held a meeting with the secretary of the ECP, which was attended by various opposition leaders including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Akram Durrani and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz’s Ahsan Iqbal

Following a meeting with the secretary of the ECP, the opposition submitted a letter to the chief election commissioner on the matter. The letter was signed by all the members of the Rehbar Committee, local media reported.

Speaking to media outside the ECP, Durrani said that all parties are concerned why this case is pending. He further said that the National Accountability Bureau calls him thrice a week and yet there has been no progress in this case. "The delay in this case will damage the country," the JUI-F leader said.

The funding case was filed in November 2014 by PTI’s founding member Akbar S. Babar. He accused the party of corruption and illegal funding.
