Government mulling establishing expo centre in Sialkot: BoI chief

Minister of State and Chairman Board of Investment (BoI) Zubail Gilani on Thursday visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to discuss different ways and means pertaining to investment with business community of Sialkot.

Addressing the members of the SCCI he stressed the need of compiling basic data which would help the government to resolve the issues of industry and trade. The Chairman BoI assured the members that government would consider the establishment of Expo Centre in Sialkot.

The previous rulers had obtained loans and spent on their own requirements and ignored the industry and sectors of the country due to which the growth of these sectors reached at lowest ebb. On this occasion members of the business community demanded for developing Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sialkot for further accelerating the pace of export activities.

They said the BoI should consider the demand of establishment of SEZ in Sialkot on priority basis, adding that establishment of SEZ in that export hub would open new vistas of development prosperity and generate wide employment opportunities for the workers.
