Fake accounts case: AC issues ex-SBCA chief's warrant of arrest

The Accountability Court hearing the multibillion rupees fake bank accounts case on Friday issued arrest warrant of Manzoor Qadir alias Kaka, former executive director of Sindh Building Control Authority and a close aide to former president Asif Ali Zardari, in an illegal allotment of government land case. While hearing the case, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir issued arrest warrant of Manzoor Qadir due to his continuous absence from the court.

The NAB officials told the court that two accused including Abbas Ali and Akhtar Farooq are currently in Karachi jail. The counsel of co-accused, Abdul Razaq filed an application seeking one day exemption for his client from personnel appearance before the court which was approved. The 16 accused include former director general Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Manzoor Qadir alias Kaka, Omni Group's Abdul Ghani Majeed and others. The Bureau on May 23 authorized filing of a corruption reference against former director general SBCA Karachi and others. The accused persons by misusing their authority allegedly allotted the government land at Nehr-e-Khayyam Karachi to M/S Friends Associates which incurred a loss of Rs 3 billion to the national exchequer.

According to the NAB, the accused used fake accounts for payment of plots. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till December 17.
