Pakistan's export of gems shot up by 47 percent to US$1.762 million in July-Oct 2019, official figure said. Increase stands at US$562 million in July-Oct 2019 from US$1.2 million in July-Oct 2018, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.
Export volume of gems also surged 400 percent or 4 metric tons to 5 metric tons in July-Oct 2019 from 1 metric ton in July-Oct 2018. In Oct 2019, gems export grew by 35.44 percent or US$84, 000 to US$321,000 from US$237,000 in Oct 2018.
In term of quantity, gems export remained stagnant with just one metric ton in Oct 2019.
Jewelry export however dropped to US$1.671 million in July-Oct 2019 from US$2.018 million in July-Oct 2018, showing a fall of 17.20 percent or US$347 million.
In Oct 2019, jewelry export went up by one percent or to 712,000 from 705,000 in Oct 2018.
