FBR to set up market committees

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is set to announce market committees to resolve issues of traders, said sources. According to the scope of committees, as agreed by the both sides, the market committees would run a campaign for registration of new taxpayers. The FBR would ensure simple and easy registration form in this regard.

The committees would also suggest resolutions of tax disputes in line with alternate dispute resolution committee procedures. These committees would also provide support FBR in assessing turnover of taxpayers.

The committees would also resolve complaints of shops measuring 1000 square feet and registered under sales tax. These committees would also decide which trader comes under the ambit of sales tax, if he is involved in sale and retail businesses.
