PMA lauds court for ordering resumption of old dog-culling method

Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has appreciated the order of Sukkur Bench of Sindh High Court for resuming old methods for culling stray dogs to save precious human lives in the province of Sindh.

The decision was need of the hour because during the year 2019, around 187,000 dog-bite incidents have been reported in Sindh so far and more than 23 people including children died due to stray dog bite incidents, Dr S M Qaisar Sajjad, Secretary General PMA said in a press release issued here on Monday.

He said PMA has been vocal on the issue and it was our unambiguous stance to cull the stray dogs in the province because of abundance of dog bite cases and deaths of innocent people due to this threat. This is very common observation that stray dogs roaming freely in every street of every town and city of the province and every person specially the children are more at risk in this worst situation. "PMA hopes that government will act promptly to compliance the court orders and thus PMA's longstanding demand will also be fulfilled and the people will get rid of this dreadful threat sooner", he said.
