Prices of the essential kitchen items have kept on witnessing an upward trend during this week past as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.
The survey observed an increase in the price of wheat flour, eggs, vegetables, tea, packed milk, chicken, chicken meat, beef, mutton, prepared tea, cooked vegetable, cooked chicken, cooked mutton, cooked beef, raw fish and fried fish and a number of other daily use items. It was noted that price of one-and-a-half-liter packed milk has went up from Rs 1,450 per carton to Rs 1,596 per carton, beef price went up from Rs 500 per kg to Rs 550 per kg, mutton price from Rs 1,050 per kg to Rs 1,200 per kg and normal fish price increased from Rs 280 per kg to Rs 375 per kg.
Moreover price of one plate of cooked mutton went up from Rs 350 per plate to Rs 400 per plate, cooked beef plate price went up from Rs 170 per plate to Rs 230 per plate, prepared cup of tea from Rs 25 per cup to Rs 35 per cup, cooked vegetable plate price from Rs 110 to Rs 125 per plate, cooked chicken plate price went up from Rs 150 to Rs 190 per plate and cooked rice plate price went up from Rs 100 to Rs 125 per plate. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price has gone up from Rs 150 per kg to Rs 160 per kg while price of domestic cylinder of 12-kg LPG went up from Rs 1,500 to Rs 1,600 per cylinder.
Chicken price went up from Rs 5,100 per 40 kg to Rs 6,000 per 40 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 140 per kg and chicken meat price went up from Rs 210 per kg to Rs 300 per kg, eggs price went up from Rs 118 per dozen to Rs 125 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 136 per dozen. Wheat flour price went up from Rs 750 per 15 kg bag to Rs 790 per 15 kg bag, price of Lipton Yellow Label tea pack of 200 grams went up from Rsa 210 per pack to Rs 230 per pack.
However, during the week under review no changes were witnessed in the prices of powdered chilli which in retail market was being sold at Rs 480 per kg and powdered turmeric at Rs 350 per kg. Fine quality Mash pulse was available at Rs 230 per kg, Moong pulse at Rs 200 per kg, and fine quality Lobia ws available at Rs 200 per kg. Fine quality Basmati rice was available at Rs 175 per kg, normal Basmati at Rs 100 per kg and Irri-6 rice was being sold at Rs 90 per kg. Sugar price also remained stable at Rs 3,400 per 50 kg bag which in retail market was being sold at Rs 72 per kg.
The survey noted a mixed trend in vegetables prices as tomato prices went down from Rs 650 per 5 kg to Rs 550 per 5 kg in wholesales market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 140-150 per kg, onion price also remained stable at Rs 400 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 90-95 per kg and potatoes' price went up from Rs 250 per 5 kg to Rs 275 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 65 per kg against 60 per kg.
Garlic price remained stable at Rs 850 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 250 per kg and ginger price went down from Rs 1,100 per 5 kg to Rs 900 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 280 per kg against Rs 320 per kg. Capsicum price remained stable at Rs 470 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 110-120 per kg and carrot price went down from Rs 170 per 5 kg to Rs 150 per kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg against Rs 45-50 per kg.
Pumpkin prices went up from Rs 200-300 per 5 kg to Rs 300-350 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold in the range of Rs 60-90 per kg against Rs 50-75 per kg, and yam price went up from Rs 500 per 5 kg to Rs 550 per 5 kg while in the retail market it was being sold at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 120 per kg. Okra price went up from Rs 400 per 5 kg to Rs 650 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 150-170 per kg against Rs 100-110 per kg and bitter gourd price went down from Rs 425 per 5 kg to Rs 400 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 90-95 per kg against Rs 100-110 per kg and cauliflower price went down from Rs 300 per 5 kg to Rs 270 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 70-75 per kg and cabbage price went down from Rs 220 per 5 kg to Rs 200 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 55 per kg.
Overall fruit prices witnessed a decline as golden apple was being sold at Rs 110 per kg, Gaja apple was available at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 110 per kg, white apple at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kolo apple at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 140 per kg and Iranian Kala Kolo apple was available at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 155 per kg. Good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 90 per dozen while normal quality banana was being sold in the range of Rs 60-75 per dozen, and guava was available at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 90 per kg. Various brands of oranges were being sold in the range of Rs 80-200 per dozen, grapes were being sold in the range of Rs 100-180 per kg, and pomegranates were being sold in the range of Rs 125-210 per kg against Rs 150-250 per kg.
