Prices of essential food commodities, including pulses, vegetable, chicken meat, fruits, sugar and others have increased in retail market, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
Live chicken/meat is being available at Rs173 per kilogramme, which was selling at Rs141 per kilogramme, showing an increase of Rs32 per kilogrmame in retail market, the survey noticed. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs110-120 and Rs130 per kilogramme.
It further witnessed that cow meat is being sold at Rs400-450 per kilgoramme while mutton beef priced at Rs900-950 per kilogramme in local market. Fresh milk is being sold at Rs110-120 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs80 per litre, while yogurt was available at Rs120 per kilogramme against the official fixed price of Rs90 per kilogramme.
Gram flour (baisen) was being sold at Rs100-120 per kilogramme against the Rs90 per kilogrmame, showing an increase of Rs30 per kilogramme in local market, while sugar is being sold at Rs75 per kilgoramme against the price of Rs72 per kilogramme in the previous week.
A mixed trend in price of food grains/pulses in local market was witnessed, the survey said. It noticed that Dal mash is being available at Rs220 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs210 per kilogramme, showing an increase of Rs10 per kilogramme, dal masoor at Rs120 per kilogramme, Dhoti dal was priced at Rs200 per kilogramme, against the price of Rs160 per kilogramme, dal chilka (green) was available at Rs160 per kilogrmame, while dal chilka (black) is being sold at Rs165 per kilogrmame in retail market.
Similarly, an increase of Rs20 per kilogramme was also witnessed in price of moonge as available at Rs160 per kilogrmame against the price of Rs140 per kilogramme. Dal channa is being sold at Rs160 per kilogramme against the price of Rs140 per kilogramme, the survey witnessed.
Red bean (Tajikistan) is being sold at Rs170-180 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs160 per kilogrmame in the previous week, while red bean (chinese) was available at Rs180 per kilogramme against the rate of Rs160 pre kilogrmame in the retail market.
White lobiya is being sold at Rs140-150 per kilgoramme. Big-size white channa priced at Rs160 per kilogramme while small-size white channa available at Rs140 per kilogramme in retail market.
Fruits are staple food, which is also completely out from purchasing power of common due to high prices. Apple is being sold at Rs100-120 and Rs150 per kilogramme, guava at Rs80-100 per kilogramme, pomegranate at Rs150-200 per kilogrmame, persimmon at Rs80-100 per kilogrmame, grapes at Rs150-200 per kilogrmamme, banana at Rs40-50 and Rs70-80 per dozen.
According to the survey, tomatoes are being sold at Rs90 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs100 per kilogramme in the previous week, showing an decrease of Rs10 per kilgoramme in retail market. However, price of onion was remained unchanged as available at Rs80-90 per kilogramme in local market.
Similarly, the price of ginger is still sky-high as available at Rs400-450 per kilogramme. Garlic is also dearer, which is being selling at Rs280-300 per kilogramme. Likewise, green chili is being sold at Rs300-350 per kilogramme.
Lemon was priced at Rs100-110 per kilogramme. Carrots are being sold at Rs40-50 per kilogramme, while a bundle of radish was available at Rs 20.
A slight decrease in price of peas was witnessed as available at Rs80-100 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs120 per kilogramme in the previous week whereas the price of arvi was remained unchanged as available at Rs100-120 per kilogramme. Caspicum is being sold at Rs120-150 per kilogramme.
Ladyfinger is being sold at Rs80 per kilogramme, apple, around and long gourds are being available within range of Rs60 and Rs70-80 per kilogramme. Cabbage is being sold at Rs60 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs50 per kilogramme in the last week, while cauliflower was priced at Rs70-80 per kilogramme in local market.
Bitter gourd (Kerala) is being available within range of Rs100-120 per kilogramme. Bringle was being sold at Rs50-60 per kilogramme. Red potato was priced at Rs70-80 per kilogramme and others are available within range of Rs40-50 and Rs60 per kilogramme. Turnip is being sold at Rs50-60 per kilogramme.
According to the survey, a 20-kg flour bag is being available at Rs960-1000. Similarly, price of 85-kg bag is being available Rs4000 in retail market.
