Pakistan star batsman Babar Azam has moved up to number sixth spot in the ICC Test batsmen rankings following a highly productive run against Australia and Sri Lanka.

The right-hander scored 262 in three innings against Sri Lanka to achieve his career best spot on Tuesday.

He took his form to the historic home Test series against Sri Lanka, scoring an unbeaten century in the drawn Rawalpindi Test. Babar reached three figures alongside Abid Ali, who became the first batsman in history to score a century on Test and ODI debuts.

He followed it up with 60 and an unbeaten 100 in the second game at National Stadium Karachi.

Babar was ranked ninth after the first Test against Sri Lanka. With 767 point, now Babar sits behind Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne. Indian skipper Virat Kohli leads the chart with 928 points.

Meanwhile, Asad Shafiq has moved back into top 20 while, Skipper Azhar Ali moved up to 26th spot. History maker Abid Ali, who himself had an unforgettable run with the bat, reached 62nd spot in the rankings.
