Julian Castro, an Obama-era cabinet member and the only Hispanic candidate in the US presidential race, ended his 2020 White House bid Thursday after failing to boost his flagging poll numbers in a crowded Democratic field.
The 45-year-old former housing secretary and mayor of San Antonio, Texas rarely rose above two percent support. His exit leaves 14 candidates, most of whom are white and older, in the battle to win the right to challenge Republican President Donald Trump in November.
